The FBI has raided the Los Angeles-area home of YouTube star Jake Paul.
An FBI spokesman said an armed SWAT team conducted the raid, which occurred when Paul was not at home.
Officials would not say the reason, only that the search was related to an investigation. Officers were seen collecting guns from the property.
Paul is facing charges of robbery in Arizona and recently a party took place that allegedly broke public health orders.
The 23-year-old Paul has over 20 million followers on YouTube.
“The FBI is executing a federal search warrant at a residence in Calabash in connection with an ongoing investigation,” an FBI representative said in a statement.
“The affidavit in support of the search warrant is sealed by a judge and, therefore, I am barred from commenting as to the nature of the investigation. No arrests are planned.”
Aerial footage from the news outlet revealed what looked like firearms being fired from the home by investigators.
According to the local ABC station, these weapons included a long gun which was next to a hot tub in the garden.
Paul was arrested in Scottsdale, Arizona, during a protest at a shopping center following the death of George Floyd. The police declared the demonstration a riot after the looting began.
He was charged with criminal trespass and unlawful assembly but told US media that he was only there to meet the protesters.
In July, he was criticized for organizing a day party at his Calabash home, where revelers did not wear face masks or social distances.
Mayor Alicia Weintraub expressed displeasure at one such gathering amid California’s worsening coronavirus outbreak.
Who is Jake Paul?
Paul first gained notoriety on the video-sharing platform Vine, and later YouTube – building a reputation for fiery humor and mischief.
His online fame helped him land a role on the Disney Channel series Bizzardworker. However, he was fired after complaints from neighbors about his stunt – including starting a fire in his back garden – received publicity.
Paul, like his brother Logan, is a controversial figure in the so-called influential industry. In 2018 he uploaded a video titled, “I lost my virginity,” featuring a glimpse picture of him dancing half-naked with his girlfriend.
He also staged two weddings, participated in a boxing match against fellow YouTuber AnEsonGib, and released several songs with rapper Gucci Mane.
Earlier this year, Paul was criticized for suggesting that anxiety is a self-induced mental illness. In a later tweet, he said he too was suffering from anxiety and intended to “spread more awareness”.
